What equipment do I need to brew my beer kit?A bucket, steriliser, syphon tube, some bottles or a pressure barrel for storage and maybe some sugar or glucose - depends on the kit. What equipment do I need to ferment my wine kit?A fermenter or demi-john, steriliser, some syphon tube, an airlock, a bung, and some bottles and corks for storage. Is there much difference between the cheaper kits and the more expensive ones?Yes, the cheaper wine kits need sugar adding and usually have added apple or cherry juices, dearer wine kits are usually full grape and have sucrose syrup included so you don't need to buy extra sugar. Same goes for beer kits, dearer ones are full malt giving a smoother, fuller bodied and better flavoured result, the cheaper kits need sugar or glucose adding. ALWAYS use pure cane sugar - NOT your supermarkets own brand which is beet sugar. Is it easy to get a good result?Yes. The key is cleanliness - ALWAYS STERILISE your equipment. Modern kits have step by step instructions. Do you have everything in stock?Some internet only sites carry little or no stock, and they only order stock when an item is sold. We have a fully stocked retail store which is one of the largest in the UK , and the majority of advertised items are in stock. If an item sells out overnight we will let you know by email. Unlike some online sites we do not charge your card until we despatch your order. |
